Awesome Blogger Award #3 & The Book Interview Tag

Hiya bookish people!

I guess I am going to be doing double tags indefinitely for a while! Thank you guys so much for all your tags, I always love filling them out 🙂 ( P.S if I have forgotten or not seen any, please scream at me in the comments so I can do them! )

I was tagged by the amazing Lucy @ lifestyleaddict to do the Awesome Blogger Award [ take #3 ]! I haven’t jumped onto Lucy’s blog and given her posts the comments and appreciation that they deserve ( and Lucy I swear I will ), but I really really hope you guys go and check out her posts because she is one of the most amazing bloggers I have ever met.

I was then later tagged by Daria @ Bookaholic’s Therapy to do the Book Interview Tag, which honestly looks super duper awesome!

🌷 three quirky facts about yourself 🌷

  • I am absolute trash for Werewolf books and Wattpad stories. Literal trash. I recently finished A Pack of Vows and Tears by Olivia Wildenstein and absolutely loved it! If you have any wolfy Wattpad books or books to recommend me, please do!

  • I used to be a very successful fanfiction writer. Yes I am evil, I left a fic unfinished two years ago. Yes, I still receive comments asking me to continue it. Yes, I have debated continuing it because I have time due to isolation. But no, I will not.

  • Spreadsheets are an obsession of mine – you’ll find out more about this on Monday.

🌷 if you had to describe yourself as an animal, which one would it be? 🌷

I am going to say a Mastiff, purely because a Mastiff is my Wizarding World patronus! ( I still think it should be called Pottermore )

🌷 favorite decade 🌷

I blame F. Scott Fitzgerald for this one when I read The Great Gatsby. I’m going to say the 20’s. The roaring parties? The dresses? The drama? Okay, I probably wouldn’t go to the parties, but theoretically.

🌷 what’s one childhood memory that you cherish? 🌷

My extended-family owns a plot of land where we have a family house, well a couple of units. It’s a short walk to the beach, and at the end of the beach is a massive – and I mean massive – pohutukawa tree. My granny would go down there at night with myself, and my five other cousins, and my brother using torches, and we would sit in the tree with the lights off and look at the stars. I remember thinking that the tree was so old, it always felt warm to touch it. I am hoping to take a friend with me there eventually, and then we can go to the Big Tree, too.

🌷 what is one guilty pleasure you enjoy too much to give up? 🌷

Rereading and rewatching The Twilight Saga, and enjoying the Twilight Renaissance memes that have begun floating around. It is absolutely brilliant and I am loving each second of it. Charlie is the best character of the entire franchise, fite me.

🌷 favorite show currently 🌷

I am actually not watching anything at the moment! I’ve just been binging movies instead of episodes.

🌷 favorite movie quote 🌷

Now think of the happiest things, it’s the same as having wings.” – Peter Pan ( 1953 )

🌷 a book that greatly impacted your life or is meaningful to you in any way 🌷

I will have to say that Frankly in Love by David Yoon was definitely one of the most impactful books that I have. It was the first physical proof copy book that I got sent ( via Penguin Publishing! ) and it made me realise that hey, my blog was noticeable and worth something to readers.

But my most meaningful book is my special edition of Emma that my dad bought me from the Austen shop in Bath during my trip to the UK over last Christmas. It is beautiful!

🌷 what makes you feel accomplished? 🌷

My friends, for one. Then school, then AFCTL and then lastly a good night’s sleep. Because I hardly ever get that anymore.

🌷 dream job or aspiration for life 🌷

I really want to get into book publishing! Watching the Tik Tok ( yes, don’t judge me too harshly ) for offices like Epic Reads or Penguin Teen, I am really hoping to go into an industry full of books!

🌷 name/ blog name 🌷

So, yes, my name is actually Emma! It is a common enough name that I am not scared of people finding me through my blog, although if this were to become a more constant blog I would consider adding my actual face as a profile image. If anyone can ever get me a decent profile photo, first!

As for the blog name, I was looking at bookish quotes, hoping to find inspiration. And then I stumbled across the quote “How long does it take you to fall in love?” // “Oh, a couple of chapters, usually.” Haha, I know, I am so qUiRkY for using that.

🌷 age 🌷

I am sixteen! I am waiting for my coming-of-age novel experiences to kick in. Any minute. I mean, I guess I am part of a disease-ridden dystopian world. Where are my love interests, then?!

🌷 favourite genre 🌷

Fantasy! It’s the best genre, to me at least.

🌷 favourite male author🌷

John Green. This goes back to me being impatient for my coming-of-age novel experiences to begin.

🌷 favourite female author 🌷

Sarah J. Maas, hands down. No further explanation required.

🌷 forever favourites 🌷

So, I don’t think I can actually pinpoint specific favourites, but I do have sub-genres!

  • Mermaids
  • Dragons
  • Fae
  • Forbidden romances

🌷 what was your first book of 2019? did you enjoy it?🌷

The first book I read was White Stag by Kara Barbieri, and I definitely did enjoy it! I rated it five stars!

🌷 what was your last book of 2019? did you enjoy it?🌷

I last read The Night Country by Melissa Albert. Unfortunately, I only kind of enjoyed it, but it wasn’t a raving read for me.

🌷 what do you look for in a book? what makes a book stand out for you?🌷

I look for a strong leader who is independant, but has inner turmoil, and a clear goal.

🌷 do you collect any particular sets/editions of books? 🌷

I don’t at the moment, but I am hoping to collect the Throne of Glass collector’s editions, if they continue to produce them with Crown of Midnight.

I would also like to buy the A Court of Thorns and Roses special edition and then the rest, if they also make more of those.

And, I am sure that House of Salt and Sorrows will have a beautiful ten-year foil cover edition.

🌷 favourite place to read 🌷

Definitely either in bed, or in the sun.

🌷 do you keep books you don’t like, or you just get rid of them? 🌷

I keep them until I can find them a new home. Some books I will put into the Little Library Box up my Road ( but not at the moment because they have removed the books for public safety ) or give them to a friend or family member who I think will enjoy it where I don’t.

🌷 which literary character best defines you/ do you best relate to?🌷

I don’t actually relate to any characters, but that’s what I love about them. I can pull away from the reality of my own life.

  1. Girl, how did I not know until recently that you’re a fellow Twilight stan??? I know I never talk about it [and for good reason] but Twilight will always be my favorite book. Hands down. I’m currently in a self isolation re-read and loving it. After all this time I am still in love with the gloomy little town of Forks, Washington. ❤

    1. Hahaha, yeah I do keep it a little under lock and key! It is definitely a nostalgic book to me and I rewatched a lot of the movies recently! ( I GAVE AWAY WITH MY SERIES BECAUSE I’M A DUMB DUMB AND I CAN’T GO OUT AND BUY NEW COPIESSSS ( but I shall live because I am conscious that the world has bigger problems rn )).
QUESTION! IMPORTANT!! Am I the only one who hadn’t heard of Palassiter’s ( essentially fanfic but so freaking accurate to Eddy ) continuation of SM’s Midnight Sun until yesterday?!?

      1. WHAT??? WHAT!!! A MIDNIGHT SUN CONTINUATION??? OMG! OMG! OMG!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! My inner teenaged-self is flipping the freak out! HOW DID WE NOT KNOW??? And thank you so much for sharing this crucial piece of information!

I’ve read the “official” except from SM [the part that original leaked and was then posted on her website]. I don’t think I will ever get past my seething disappointment over the fact that Midnight Sun will never be published in full. BUT TO HAVE A FANFIC??? I will 1000000% settle for that! I’m re-reading Eclipse at the moment [Rosalie has just revealed her backstory – am I the only one who utterly loves Rosalie???] but I’m thinking I’m going to have to read this fic after Breaking Dawn. ❤ ❤ ❤

      2. I KNOW! I FREAKED OUT WHEN I SAW AND I NEED TO READ IT ASAP!

I have too, and I honestly loved it. Eddy really did hate that green sweater! I can see why she doesn’t want to continue it, but OML Palassiter wrote it so freaking well! It honestly felt like S Meyer continued it. Rosalie is amazing I love her so freaking much!
I am going to next month ❤

      3. That’s so true [as much as I hate to admit it] – it would have sucked BIG TIME for her intellectual property to have been stolen and posted without her consent. That’s such a betrayal. It would have put me off too. Then E.L. James had to come along and twist the knife. ❤

  2. I agree that WizArDinG woRld should still be called POTTERMORE because … IDK IT JUST SHOULD.

YOUR COMING-OF-AGE STUFF IF COMING JUST AROUND THE CORNER… OH NO RUN! RUN WHILE YOU CAAAAAAAANNNNNNN (I’m prepared with my eight-year-old Obi Wan lightsaber, peanut butter, and Queen wbu) (we will rock you, coming of age stuff!) (seriously tho don’t just sEtTlE for something make sure whatever you decide to do ever won’t hurt you in the long run) (be logical) (be wise) (be… a raven) Do you even need a love interest yet though??

OOOOH IF YOU EVER WANT TO (idk what you watch things on bUT) have you ever watched Once Upon a Time? I loved it (haven’t watched it recently tho). ALSO The Joy of Painting (Bob Ross is the bestttt) and allllllsoooooo if you can find this anywhere… DOCTOR WHO (hahaha I will always and forever rec this) But seriously Vincent and the Doctor is SO GOOD and so is Blink, but VINCENT AND THE DOCTOR- It’s VINCENT VAN GOGH and the 11th DOCTOR it’s fAnTasTic

I hope your April is gREAT!!!!

    1. IT SOUNDS MORE HARRY POTTERISH!!!

I am prepared with my jar of peanut butter ( too yum, never gonna give it up ), coffee, and basically a massive sign that says “COMING OF AGE EXPERIENCES NEEDED HERE PLEASE I’M DESPERATE ( love interests not required )” at this point. Haha yes, I think I will be fine but I honestly feel a little robbed? John Green told lies to me!

I have seen some of it! I used to be home a lot so I could watch it during the day, but I really need to pick it up again! Thank you for the reminder. DOCTOR WHO FOREVER!!

I always love getting your comments, Beck!

      1. But even without a “young adult novel” life it can still be fulfilling?? Just like be ready to welcome those experiences but don’t go looking for them (cause most times it’ll go w r o n g hahahhhh) (and here I am giving advice when we aren’t that far apart in age but ok) But yeah I get that feeling that you’re missing out, but, *whispers* you’re notttttttt.

YESSS!!! I’m in the middle of Daleks in Manhattan with my siblings and it’s so weird tho… I really wish I could watch Doomsday but nOooOooOooooOo (it’s fiiiine)

        Aww thank you so much!

      2. This is true! I’m not gonna go looking but let’s just say that if a rebellion wanted to use me as its spokesperson… I would say ask someone else because that’s some scary shiz. Maybe just a dramatic high school murder plot ( cough cough One of Us is Lying cough cough ).

  3. The special edition of Emma is soo beautiful, I can see why you love it! And I am obsessed with the reasoning behind your blog name haha. AFCTL will be known as that one meme that turned into a blog 😂

  4. I’m watching twilight for the first time properly & there’s absolutely no competition – Charlie is the best character (I’ve also noticed how much Bella calls him Charlie & not dad? 😂)

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Yes! He is! Thank you! Yeah, it was kinda explained why in the book but from memory it was because she was very self-reliant and she didn’t see them as parents as much as other kids? But thats why when she calls him Dad in BDpt1 it is super cool.

  5. Ahhh, I’M SO SORRY I HAVEN’T BEEN ON YOUR BLOG IN A WHILE!!! I wasn’t getting notified when you would post but, I switched the settings now so, we’re back on track 😉 !!
You’re welcome for the nomination(you deserve it, you blog is AMAZING) and yes to everything you said. I asked the question about the decades hoping someone would say the roaring twenties(my favorite decade) so, thank you for reading my mind, hehe! The Twilight Saga is extremely addictive and I’m currently in the process of re-reading and re-watching Twilight!
Okay so I’m also sorry I have not written to you! I will but, I had a lot of exams these last month which I procrastinated and studied at the last minute, lol. This has turned into a big entire apology(so sorry about overusing the word “sorry”) but, I have really missed reading your blog ;)!

    1. Ahhh, I’m so sorry to hear that, I actually went on a bit of a break which probably didn’t help XD
Haha! You’re welcome! I really need to reread Twilight since I recently bought all of them again, second hand, in the white covers! They’re so beautiful!!
Oh, don’t worry about it! I know everyone gets busy sometimes and look forward to hearing from you whenever you’re ready ❤
Haha, it's alright, and thank you!

  6. Ooh you used to write fanfiction? I used to do pretty similiar writing tbh :L and all those poor people, waiting for the end of your story!!
Yay I like the 20s but that’s more from the Originals :L I’m sure that was in them at some points anyway.
I actually really want to re-read Twilight sometime, especially with the new one coming out soon. It’s been years since I read it.
Ah I should read more mermaid books! And dragons actually – I love them but haven’t read that much with them in. I love, love, LOVE the fae though!! and forbidden romances are wonderful too!!
I hope you gget the special editions that you want, they look absolutely stunning!!!

    1. I know! I feel so bad but I just couldn’t bring myself into the world I had created anymore! I did leave it open for a reader-finish, and know of at least one person who picked it up but never read it. It was too hard for me to read on what I couldn’t create myself!
      I think it was, too.
Me too! It’s one of my goals at the end of year holidays.
      Thank you!

      1. Aww I completely understand and you definitely have to do what’s best for you. Pushing yourself to write something that you couldn’t get into anymore would have only made you feel bad. And I definitely understand not reading someone else’s continuation of it – I’d imagine it would feel pretty strange.
        Ooh that’s wonderful ❤
