🌷 Do you have any weird reading habits? 🌷

I like to have instrumental music playing when I am reading, and I do like to be drinking something. Normally it’s water or something, but hot drinks such as coffee, tea and hot chocolate are also very high up on that list.

🌷 Did you ever dream of being a writer? 🌷

Only when I was in my fanfiction phase. Don’t judge me, I know you had one too. Hey, my tumblr fics did get a small bit of attention, but we are gonna all agree that we don’t talk about that now. Okay, I will admit I was super excited when I had my first fic hit 1000 notes, but I have that buried so deep now that if anyone finds it, they must be a part of the FBI.

🌷 What’s a place you really want to visit? 🌷

Greece, it has always appealed to me and I really want to visit when I’m older. In fact, Beth and I have talked about going there together when we travel after school. That’s the plan, anyway. We are gonna do a lot of travelling together, which is definitely gonna burn my pockets, but I am sure I’ll love it.

🌷 What’s your rainy day song playlist? 🌷

Whatever I am listening to on my playlist at the time. I don’t really do specific weather genres, although Wet and Cold, and the King of Norway are some awesome ones. Do you guys think that I should put my songs from the month on my monthly wrap-ups? I am trying to amp them up a wee-bit.

🌷 Do you use something special / unordinary as a bookmark? 🌷

Whatever is on hand, really. I’ve been known to use my kindle as a bookmark for my physical current read. I’ve also used band-aids, tissues, post-it-notes, a sleepmark and an actual bookmark. Do you guys remember ages ago when I did that drawing of Aelin from TOG?. I was thinking of doing some of these as bookmarks for personal use and uploading stuff for you guys to print, if you’re interested? It might be worth me cleaning up the edges first.

🌷 What’s something that you loved in your childhood that you don’t like anymore? 🌷

I really used to love running around outside, or going out on my scooter, and going snorkeling with my dad. I haven’t done that in a few years though. As for the other stuff, now I am basically a vampire that stays inside and blogs and reads and watches Netflix (two quick recs: The Witcher and Lucifer).

🌷 What’s a new genre that you recently got really into? 🌷

To be honest, I am a genre hermit. I basically stay under the umbrella of Young Adult since that has contemporary, thriller, fantasy and romance (plus others, obviously). I really should branch out more, but the books in YA are just so amazing, I don’t really want to read about divorces and child custodies? (Yeah, I know that not all adult novels are like that, but you get my point.)

🌷 What book made you feel hungry? 🌷

Any book with a half-decent description of food. I get hungry super easily and I don’t think that there’s any one book that has made me hungrier than others. Harry Potter is obviously one stand out, and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, too.

🌷 What is, in your opinion, the perfect weather for reading? 🌷

All weather. Rain or shine, wind or hail, drought or floods. As long as I have a book, kindle, phone or laptop to read on then I am happy to read in whatever weather (although being inside is definitely preferable in some of the cruler weathers). And a cup of coffee would absolutely set the scene, too. I can’t pick! I enjoy reading in the sun, but the sound of rain is so calming. Gah, why can’t I find a good answer!

🌷 What’s a book that played with your mind / messed you up (in a good way)? 🌷

Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas. Nothing about that book is okay, I am devastated and I think it is the most I have cried at a book in years. Especially since there were so many things to cry about. Honestly Sarah, why’d you go and do that to me?! To be honest, after all these heartbreaks and bittersweet books you’d think I am resistant to these devestations now.

🌷 Do you like scented candles? If so, what scent? 🌷

I do like scented candles. Unfortunately I don’t have any book-themed ones at the moment, but I am hoping to get some in the near-ish future. I’ve just gotta get some money first! I do like candles with more muted scents, like vanilla’s or florally smells. Citrus stings my nose. Berry smells are nice, too, if they’re mixed with something in order to mute them a bit.

🌷 What’s your favourite book? 🌷

I can’t! I just can’t! I can improvise and take a little bit of creative license and say that I am loving The Raven Cycle at the moment (I love it, I love it, I love it), and I also recently finished The Folk of the Air which I also really enjoyed. Why is this always such a hard question to answer? Why?!

🌷 What’s your least favourite book? 🌷

You guys must be so sick of me saying Midnight Sun, so I’m gonna mix it up a bit and say Midnight Sun and After. It was trash, and I can’t wait to read Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire with Aditi for our next trashy-buddy-read. Honestly. Blegh.

🌷 How many books do you have on your physical TBR? 🌷

I have five, and an additional two library books. I have Emma, An Enchantment of Ravens, After You, Sorcery of Thorns and Serpent and Dove. My dad bought me a beautiful copy of Emma from an Austen shop in Bath when we went to the UK over Christmas, I can’t wait to read it. Somehow I’ve avoided reading a classic with my name as the title.

My two library books are Damsel and If I Fall, If I Die.

🌷 What is / was your favourite subject at school? 🌷

English and Media Studies classes. They are both super fun, and this year in Media I am learning about horror movies. I think I even have to film / write my own horror scene, or recreate one. Not quite sure which yet. Psychology is also super fun but it is a super intense class, you can’t afford to miss anything.

🌷 What’s your favourite board game? 🌷

Who doesn’t love a good game of Monopoly? It is super fun and aggressive and I get super competitive. That also makes me a really sore loser, because I get really stroppy and salty. If you want to play with me, expect mean words to be said because I am ruthless and will insult your rental costs with no remorse. BTW my hotel is better than yours.

🌷 What’s a stereotype that is true about you? 🌷

The coffee drinker with no chill, and who can’t sleep well ever. Also, Netflix binger.

🌷 What’s a stereotype that isn’t true about you? 🌷

The “traditional” book worm. Hates talking to people, always carrying stacks of books, wears glasses, effortless messy buns, doesn’t wear makeup like oThEr GiRlS. I do enjoy talking to my group of friends, I am always carrying books in some form, I don’t wear glasses and messy buns are a bitch to get right. Makeup is straight up dangerous though.

🌷 Favourite cake flavour? 🌷

Honey and walnut cake. I had some (well, more stole some off my stepmums plate) in a cafe near the Portobello markets and it was amazing. My stepmum (who is an amazing baker) has agreed to try to replicate it for my birthday cake.

🌷 What’s something you’ve always wanted to know more about? 🌷

I’ve kind of always wanted to learn Latin, and I think that reading The Raven Cycle, where Latin is quite an important part of the plot, has just made that more relevant to me at the moment. I want to learn, but I don’t really have time plus I don’t wanna be murdered by the Duolingo bird for missing lessons, but I definitely want to try in the future.

🌷 Are you good at multitasking? 🌷

Not in the slightest, I can barely walk and breathe at the same time, I’m unable to multitask in any way other than watching Netflix and working on a document.

🌷 Tell us a joke? 🌷

Me, I’m the joke.

No?

What do you call a deer with no eyes?
“A No Eyed Deer!”

(If you’ve made it this far, I am impressed! Now, for the questions and the tags.)

My 11 questions.

11 facts about me.

  • I like dark chocolate.

  1. It is so cool that you used to write fan fiction (I do genuinely find it cool) and 1000 notes is impressive!! 😍
I would love to go to Greece as well and it is amazing you have plans to travel after school. I wish I had a travel buddy 😂
Yes vanilla scents are the best!!!
Yessss cheers for the raven cycle 😂
Monopoly is classic but I’m rubbish. I just hoard all my money and never make any 😂😂
I love that deer joke, I used to say all the time when I was younger!! 🙈

  2. Ahh, I want the feds to release the buried fanfics 😂!! Luckily, I escaped the fanfic phase ✌🏽😂. But in all seriousness, my close friends were, and still are, into reading and writing fanfic, and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it at all 😄!
Also, I really like the term “genre hermit”. It’s like a regular hermit—but cultured 😅. You made a good point though about adult novels! Their subject matters have a certain sadness and heaviness to them 😕.
And your Media class sounds super cool! If you end up rewriting a horror scene, does that kinda count as fanfic lol 😅?
It was so fun reading your answers, Emma! Thank you so much for tagging me 🙂💕.

    1. Nooooooo! I don’t think there is anything wrong with it, I still read fanfic a lot, but honestly mine were blegh
Hahaha thank you! ‘Genre hermit’ was purely an impromptu statment
I mean. I guess so? I am definitely gonna demand an answer about that from my teacher on Monday.
      You’re very welcome!

  3. Sounds like I need a PI to unearth these “buried” fanfics – I say “buried” with the “air bunnies” because they won’t stay buried for long! 😂😂😂 I’ve never tried my hand at fanfic but it must take a lot of courage to post it out for the world to read.

And I LOVE your cold weather playlist. I’ve made my own playlist which I’ve dubbed the “Virgin River Vibes” playlist. My go-to songs are Meet Me In The Woods by Lord Huron, Cold Nights by Awolk, Bare by WILDES, Comatose by Sod Ven and SYML’s Where’s My Love – the acoustic version’s where it’s at.

    1. Nooo! They were so bad and yucky, and for someone who can now live without too many romance novels, there were so many relationships in those fics oml

Thank you! I’ve just lined those songs up on my Spotify but I know Bare and it is such a good song!
