This is my twelfth Blogmas post for 2019! This is the 12 Days of Christmas Tag, written by Lizzie Loves Books on YouTube. I’ve linked down to the video at the bottom of the post so please feel free to watch it! And yes I scheduled this 12 Days of Christmas post to go live on the 12th of December. Sue me.

On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me // a partridge in a pear tree
The partridge stood alone in the pear tree.
What is your favourite standalone?

Probably the Martian. I know it isn’t YA but I love it. However, I am currently writing a report about it for Chemistry, so let’s see if I still love it by the end of the year.

Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars.

Now, he’s sure he’ll be the first person to die there.

After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive—and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive.

Chances are, though, he won’t have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plain-old “human error” are much more likely to kill him first.

But Mark isn’t ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills — and a relentless, dogged refusal to quit — he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?

On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me // two turtle doves […]
Love is in the air! Who is your OTP?

Again with the picking of ones!? How about top 3? Well, there is of course Amren and Varian from ACOTAR, then Perle and Dejean from OBP, and Jude and Cardan from the Folk of the Air (since we love emotional torture and a bleeding heart).

What is your favourite standalone?

On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me // three french hens […]
In the spirit of threes, what is the best trilogy you have ever read?

Probably A Court of Thorns and Roses at this point. However, I haven’t read Queen of Nothing yet, so the Folk of the Air may close that gap. Who knows?

On the fourth day of Christmas my true love gave to me // four calling birds […]
Since series usually consist of four or more books, what is your favourite series?

Nope, can’t do just one again. Harry Potter is an obvious first, followed closely by Throne of Glass and then Red Queen.

On the fifth day of Christmas my true love gave to me // five golden rings […]
One ring to rule them all!
Who is your favourite villain / antagonist?

Maven Calore! For some reason I always gravitated towards his character, but I don’t really know why. Welp, I guess I just love really damaged characters.

<strongOn the sixth day of Christmas my true love gave to me // six geese a laying […]
Creation is a beautiful thing.
What is your favourite world / world-building?

Considering that JRR Tolkein spent so much of his books creating the amazing world ( which some of got filmed in NZ when they made the films – this is a brag ) in his books, I have to go with Middle Earth.

On the seventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me // seven swans a swimming […]
Who needs seven swans when all it takes is one good animal sidekick?
Who is your favourite animal sidekick?

Abraxos! I think I have mentioned Abraxos and Manon and Wyverns in general so much this month. And there will be more mentions to come, too!

On the eighth day of Christmas my true love gave to me // eight maids a milking […]
Milk is so 18th century.
Which book or series takes beverages / food to a whole new level?

Uhhh, Harry Potter again! The feasts… ugh they are my dreams, I swear.

On the ninth day of Christmas my true love gave to me // nine ladies dancing […]
Dancing is just one skill of a Lady!
Who is your favourite kickass female lead?

Another book I don’t talk about enough! Leisel from the Book Thief is so amazing!

On the tenth day of Christmas my true love gave to me // ten lords a leaping […]
How about favourite leading lad?

Rhysand from A Court of Mist and Fury! He is my most favourite Leading Lad… Lord? Am I trying to use alliteration?!

On the eleventh day of Christmas my true love gave to me // eleven pipers pipping […]
What is your favourite book or bookish thing with musical influence ( it can be about music, reference music a lot etc. ) ?

Well, in Queen of Shadows ( from TOG ), Aelin played the piano(forte?) for Rowan, and she made him cry. Made Rowan cry. Come on, that must be worth something!

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me // twelve drummers drumming […]
Drum roll please… what is your favourite read of this year?

The Folk of the Air Series, definitely. I haven’t fallen in love with a series so much in years.

I won’t be tagging anyone this Blogmas, but feel free to do this tag! Link back to me so I can see it 🙂

  2. I hope you love Queen Of Nothing as much as the rest of the series (and that I do too as I still need to read it). I also love how much you love Sarah J Maas’ books, this year I will definitely get up to date with then all! I have to agree with you on Harry Potter when it comes to food. And I still need to read The Book Thief but I loved the film.
