🌷 Anticipation 🌷
the Christmas excitement is real, what book release(s) are you most anticipating?

Damsel and Queen of Nothing! (UPDATE: Since I wrote this post, these books have since been published. I am gonna keep them here though)

Damsel by Elana K. Arnold — Synopsis & Cover

Damsel book coverThe rite has existed for as long as anyone can remember: when the prince-who-will-be-king comes of age, he must venture out into the gray lands, slay a fierce dragon, and rescue a damsel to be his bride. This is the way things have always been.

When Ama wakes in the arms of Prince Emory, however, she knows none of this. She has no memory of what came before she was captured by the dragon, or what horrors she has faced in its lair. She knows only this handsome prince, the story he tells of her rescue, and her destiny to sit on the throne beside him. Ama comes with Emory back to the kingdom of Harding, hailed as the new princess, welcomed to the court.

However, as soon as her first night falls, she begins to realize that not all is as it seems, that there is more to the legends of the dragons and the damsels than anyone knows–and that the greatest threats to her life may not be behind her, but here, in front of her.

Queen of Nothing by Holly Black — Synopsis & Cover

He will be destruction of the crown and the ruination of the throne. Power is much easier to acquire than it is to hold onto. Jude learned this lesson when she released her control over the wicked king, Cardan, in exchange for immeasurable power.

Now as the exiled mortal Queen of Faerie, Jude is powerless and left reeling from Cardan’s betrayal. She bides her time determined to reclaim everything he took from her. Opportunity arrives in the form of her deceptive twin sister, Taryn, whose mortal life is in peril.

Jude must risk venturing back into the treacherous Faerie Court, and confront her lingering feelings for Cardan, if she wishes to save her sister. But Elfhame is not as she left it. War is brewing. As Jude slips deep within enemy lines she becomes ensnared in the conflict’s bloody politics.

And, when a dormant yet powerful curse is unleashed, panic spreads throughout the land, forcing her to choose between her ambition and her humanity…

🌷 Christmas Songs and Carols 🌷
what book or author can you not help but sing its praises?

Sarah J. Maas as an author, The Folk of the Air and Harry Potter as series. I love them both so much!

🌷 Gingerbread Houses 🌷
what book or series has wonderful world building?

The Lord of the Rings Series, for sure. There is a lot of world building, and it makes it so much easier to visualise the world and experience it with the characters.

🌷 A Christmas Carol 🌷
favourite classic or one that you want to read

My favourite classic is Wuthering Heights. Yes, it is tragic, just like me *peace sign*

🌷 Christmas Sweets 🌷
what book would you love to receive for Christmas?

All of them! Or any that are on my TBR, which you can see on my Goodreads page here!

🌷 Candles in the Window 🌷
what book gives you that warm fuzzy feeling?

I’m going to say Six of Crows. Bare with me! Sure, it isn’t necessarily a fluffy book, but it is a book that I love and it gives me the fuzzy feels.

Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right price—and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can’t pull it off alone. . . .

A convict with a thirst for revenge
A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager
A runaway with a privileged past
A spy known as the Wraith
A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums
A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes

Kaz’s crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction—if they don’t kill each other first.

🌷 Christmas Trees and Decorations 🌷
what are some of your favourite book covers?

I really love the covers of Our Bloody Pearl, Crown of Feathers, Five Feet Apart, Damsel and a Treason of Thorns.

🌷 Christmas Joy 🌷
what are some of your favourite things about Christmas and / or some of your favourite Christmas memories?

I really enjoy the food at Christmas time (no surprise there!), and all the trashy Christmas movies we watch. Plus, once a year my whole family gets together to celebrate Christmas ( my cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents) but I think that this will be the last year since we are all getting older (us being the kids) and have other commitments now.

I won’t be tagging anyone this Blogmas, but feel free to do this tag! Link back to me so I can see it 🙂
